Tangata Rongonui

In Te Reo Pakeha we are learning about Tangata Rongonui, to me a Tangata Rongonui is someone you look up to more like a Role Model for you, and someone who is passionate about everything they do also someone who shows perseverance. This week we have been learning about Steven Adams. He was born on the (20th of July 1993) he has 18 siblings and plays NBA Basketball. He started off as a boy who was mischief and had no ears like any child. He didn't know how to Read, Write or Spell anything.

When his father died he was adopted by a member of his family a lady who he called Fairy god mother. From there he went Rotorua Lakes College, there he learnt how to Read, Write, and Spell he also got an education and there he learnt how to play his favorite game Basketball.

To this day he is playing NBA Basketball with his team Oklahoma City Thunder. He plays centre and is the height of 7 feet tall. (2.13m) and is 21 years old.

Tangata Rongonui By Te Marie

My Tangata Rongonui is Steven Adams. To me a Tangata Rongonui is someone who is a good role model and is passionate about what they do, also known as a "famous person".
I think Steven Adams is a Tangata Rongonui because he showed great perseverance for basketball. Another thing that makes him a Tangata Rongonui is that he is very humble.

Steven Adams was born in Rotorua. When he was growing up he had a hard life because his father died and he stopped going to school. He was lucky because his Fairy God mother came and looked after him. Later on he was recognised for his basketball skills and was sent off to Scots College where they helped him to catch up on all his school work. He then got a scholarship and went to America, there he played for Pittsburgh college.

Today he is a professional basketball player for the Oklahoma City Thunder. He is one of the best players in the world.
He inspires me to never give and try hard in what ever I do.

Tangata Rongonui

We are learning about New Zealand role models. This week we have been looking at Steven Adams.

The tamariki have been learning to identify some of the special attributes that tangata rongonui have. One of the attributes that Steven Adams, Jonah Lomu and Stephen McDonald had in common, was that they all had perseverance, which means that when things got tough they didn't give up.
Steven Adams had some wonderful lessons to teach us.
